Herbal Drinks to Boost Mood and Immune Health

Hibiscus Berry Tea

  • 1 cup loose leaf tea hibiscus
  • 1 cup Honey
  • 8 cups frozen berries
  • 18 cups water
  • 8 cups ice
  • Mint sprigs- for garnish 

Directions:

  1. In a small sauce pan, combine half of a cup of water, 8 cups of frozen berries, and 1 cup of honey
  2. Heat the sauce pan on medium and bring the berries up to a boil. Reduce the heat and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Remove the sauce pan from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes.
  4. Once the berry syrup has cooled, use a blender to liquify the berry syrup removing all large pieces.
  5. Pour the syrup through a strainer so it is completely smooth and all seeds are removed.
  6. Making the Tea
  7. In a medium pot or tea kettle, heat 4 cups pf water and bring it to a boil.
  8. Add the tea bags and submerge them completely. Remove the pot from the stove and allow the tea bags to steep for 10-15 minutes.
  9. Pour the tea into a large serving pitcher. Add in the berry syrup and stir. Add in 2 cups of ice and out the pitcher in the refrigerator to chill.
  10. Serve berry hibiscus iced tea in a tall glass full of ice and garnish with a lemon slice or fresh berries.

Saffron Cordial 

  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch of saffron (15 to 20 strands, about 1/4 teaspoon)
  • 4 1/4 cups water
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 meyer lemon, thinly sliced, plus more for serving
  • ⅓ cup honey

Directions

  1. Crush sugar and saffron using a mortar and pestle to a fine powder. Set aside.
  2. Bring 4 1/4 cups water, ginger, and lemon slices to a boil in a medium saucepan over high. Boil for 2 minutes; remove from heat. Stir in saffron mixture; let stand for 10 minutes. Stir in honey. Cover and chill for 4 hours minimum . Serve cordial chilled with lemon slices.
  3. Make Ahead
  4. Cordial can be refrigerated overnight in an airtight container. Remove lemon slices after 4 hours, and reserve for serving, if desired.

Spring and Winter Immunity boosting Nettle, Rosehip, & Mint Tea

  • 1 tsp dried nettle
  • 1 tsp dried rosehips
  • 1 tsp dried peppermint/spearmint/fieldmint
  • Organic tea bag 

Directions 

  1. Place ingredients in tea bag 
  2. Place tea bag in cup
  3. Add 8 ounces Hot water
  4. Steep 5-10 minutes
